Think your food waste and general rubbish end up in the same place? They don’t! What if your leftover plate scrapings could power your home? 
When we throw food in the general waste, we throw away a valuable resource. By separating our leftovers in the new weekly food waste caddies, we turn them into: Renewable energy to power our communities. Nutrient-rich fertiliser for local farms, parks, and open spaces.

The change will see food waste collected on a weekly frequency from properties across East Staffordshire from 30th March 2026.
