Tutbury Parish Council

Tutbury is a large picturesque village in Staffordshire, it is known for the remains of a medieval Castle. It is a thriving community with a population of around 3500. Currently we have 11 councillors.

A councillor’s role is voluntary and involves attending meetings to discuss parish matters. The clerk is the only paid employee. Parish councils are the first tier of Local Government to ensure that community needs and services are met. Tutbury Parish Council works with the East Staffordshire Borough Council and Staffordshire County council in representing the local issues.

Governance and Administration

Tutbury Parish Council strives to comply with current legislation in their role in local government this includes:

  • Commenting on planning applications and Local Plan policies
  • Liaising with the council Borough and County council on matters relating to housing, the environment, local services, speeding and parking around Tutbury
  • Managing public money attained through the precept and ensuring that this is spent under current powers of the council

Current facilities that Tutbury Parish Council provides and are involved in:

  • Provision of the changing rooms and football pitch at Cornmill Lane
  • Maintenance of parish footpaths and the closed churchyard
  • Provision of Ferrers Avenue Playing Field
  • Community projects and initiatives, supports community events and organisations through a grant awarding scheme

New Outdoor Gym for Tutbury

Tutbury’s New Outdoor Gyms Now Open

Tutbury Parish Council is delighted to announce that new outdoor gym equipment has now been installed at two areas in the village – the Mill Play Area  and the Park Pale Play Area on Ferrers Avenue

The project has been made possible thanks to grant funding awarded by East Staffordshire Borough Council, alongside the time and commitment invested by parish councillors in securing funding and developing the project.

What’s Been Installed?

The equipment, supplied by Sunshine Gym, has been carefully chosen to offer facilities suitable for all ages and abilities.

At the Mill Play Area, residents can enjoy:

  • Double Health Walker

  • Double Squat Push

  • Combi Pull Down Challenger & Power Push

  • Rower

  • Double Slalom Skier

  • Sky Stepper

  • Disabled Tai Chi Discs

  • Disabled Arm & Pedal Bike
  • Bicycle

At the Park Pale Play Area, the new gym includes:

  • Double Health Walker

  • Rower

  • Double Slalom Skier

  • Sky Stepper

  • Arm & Pedal Bicycle

To improve access, a new pathway into the Park Pale Play Area is scheduled to be installed on Thursday 25th September 2025.

A Community Investment

These new facilities are designed to complement the existing Borough Council–managed play areas, offering residents of all ages the chance to exercise outdoors, socialise, and enjoy Tutbury’s green spaces.

Tutbury Parish Council would like to thank East Staffordshire Borough Council for their support in funding this project, and extend our thanks to parish councillors who have worked hard behind the scenes to make it a reality.

We hope that the new equipment will be well used and enjoyed by the community for many years to come.
